The starting point for what Ecostar is today was the development of Starloy (Staroba Alloy). Starloy, a formula of recycled rubber and plastic, is the foundation for the injection-molded roofing tiles that have become the leader in the synthetic roofing industry today.
The first Starloy tiles were molded by Staroba Plastics in 1993 working with roofing contractors in their area. The first synthetic slates were sold in the U.S. in 1996 with the Staroba family launching EcoStar Inc. nationwide two years later.
In 2001, Carlisle SynTec Inc. purchased the sales and marketing portion of EcoStar, establishing it as part of Carlisle Residential which helped the product become known nationwide. In 2010, the Staroba family brought the entire business – manufacturing, sales and marketing – back to their home in Holland, NY as EcoStar LLC.
EcoStar LLC continues to lead the market with their recycled slate and shake roofing tiles. It is these exceptional roofing materials and specifications, a continued commitment to the environment and long-term relationship-based partnerships that makes EcoStar LLC the trusted, leading manufacturer they are today.
